ShangHIGH Fantasia

One for the history buffs and fans of stage performance, ShangHigh Fantasia recounts hundreds of years of Shanghai's past through a sweet combo of singing, dancing, aerial acrobatics, and even a bit of Chinese opera. Ticket prices range from 188rmb to 388rmb and the show is on twice a night until Saturday. Tickets can be bought on the door: bring your passport!

International Children’s Book Fair


Nov 13-Nov 15, 9am @ Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center


China Shanghai International Children's Book Fair is back, and this year it's packing over 450 publishers from more than 30 countries and regions, as well as 100 famous writers and illustrators. There will be books to purchase and lectures, book launches, autograph sessions, workshops and more to get stuck into. For public health reasons, attendants need to add their real names and relevant identification (passport, local ID) when purchasing tickets. Grab your ticket on SmartTicket.

Samajam Kids Show


Nov 13-Nov15, 10.30am-7.30pm @ The Great Theatre of China


Samajam Kids Show is back and it wants to make some noise! Kiddies and parents in the audience get to drum up the tunes using tambourines, 'musical tubes', drum sticks and more. This week there's one show on Friday @ 7.30pm, and three shows on both Saturday and Sunday (10.30am, 3.30pm, 7.30pm). Show runs for around 75 minutes. Tickets are 180-380rmb depending on seating and can be bought on the door. Bring your passport! Recommended for kids for 2 years and above.

Thriving & Hope In A Changing World


Nov 4, 8.30a-5pm @ Shanghai Cultural Experience Center


Shanghai International Mental Health Association (SIMHA) and The Expatriate Center want us to know and understand more about mental health — good idea, considering the nerve-wracking year we've had. Working with some of the big international healthcare names, United Family Health, Parkway Health and SinoUnited this event will have seminars, discussion panels, and workshops with some of the city's psychologists, sociologists and educators. Schools SAS Pudong, NYU Shanghai and SSIS will also be attending. Sessions will be conducted in both English and Chinese.

Autumn Farm Retreat


Nov 14, 9.30am-7pm @ O'Mills Bakery & Bistro


O'Mills Bakery & Bistro are swapping the idea of farm-to-table for more of a chauffeur the table to the farm kind of dealio. For 580rmb you get lunch, dinner, yoga classes, a flower arranging and a cake-baking workshop, and some hiking. Suited for kids aged 6 and above.

Nov 14, 11am-7pm @ Yong Ping Lane


Commune is on for the weekend. Expect the usual: food, shopping, music, drinks, an excuse to spend money, oh! and a book swap if you've got some novels and old China travel guides to reeeeeecycle.
